What is Bromelain Enzyme?
Bromelain enzyme -- also called bromelin -- is an enzyme. It occurs naturally in pineapple. As a supplement, it's often used to ease pain and swelling.Bromelain enzyme is a group of enzymes found in the fruit and stem of the pineapple plant. Bromelain enzyme is promoted as a dietary supplement for reducing pain and swelling, especially of the nose and sinuses, gums, and other body parts after surgery or injury. It is also promoted for osteoarthritis, cancer, digestive problems, and muscle soreness. Topical bromelain is promoted for burns. Bromelain is a mixture of enzymes found in pineapples (Ananas comosus) that digest protein (proteolytic). Pineapple has been used for centuries in Central and South America to treat indigestion and reduce inflammation.

Bromelain Benefits
Broomelain is an anti-inflammatory drug, so it is also used for sports injuries, trauma, arthritis, and other types of redness and swelling. Its main uses are in the treatment of sports injuries, gastrointestinal problems, phlebitis, sinusitis, and post-operative recovery. A 200mg dose of bromelain has been shown to be an effective alternative to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory analgesics.

Along with papain, bromelain is one of the most commonly used substances in meat tenderization.[7] Bromelain is sold in powder form, mixed into marinades, or sprinkled directly on raw meat.[7] Cooked or canned pineapple has no tenderizing effect because the enzyme is not heat-stable and denatures during the cooking process. Some prepared meat products, such as meatballs and commercial marinades, include pineapple and/or pineapple-derived ingredients.[5] Although a typical serving of pineapple fruit may not contain much bromelain, specific extracts can produce sufficient amounts for domestic and industrial processing, including use in baking, anti-browning of cut fruit, and textile and cosmetic manufacturing.[5]
